Phoenix, Ariz. – The Eastern Washington University women's golf team completed the Grand Canyon Invitational today (Mar. 2) finishing in 13th place in Phoenix, Ariz. The Eagles shot a 310 in the first round, a 311 in the second and finished the third round with 321 strokes to end with a total of 942 strokes.
"Today was another rough day. We had a couple of good rounds going but we just couldn't seem to finish them out. Overall, I saw some good things that have me encouraged," said head coach
Brenda Howe. "Just like with any sport, repetition is crucial. Once we get into more of a consistent practice and competition routine, I think we'll get back to being a more competitive team."
Hosts Grand Canyon won the tournament shooting 867 while California Baptist finished 10 strokes away from them to place second. Big Sky Conference foe Northern Arizona shot 892 strokes to finish three strokes behind third-place Seattle (889) and 12 strokes ahead of UC Riverside (904).
