GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis squad completed the first day at the Bobcat Desert Spring Invite in ninth-place after shooting 305 strokes in round one at the Estrella Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. Senior
Alexa Clark leads the team and is currently placed tied for fourth amongst all players competing after shooting 71 strokes.
"We saw some better scores overall today.
Alexa Clark played outstanding and it was good to see her back in her element," said head coach
Brenda Howe. "We really need to get our four and five scores down. Having to count anything in the 80's hurts our team standing in any tournament. If we can do that tomorrow, I think we can climb the leaderboard a little."
The Eagles are currently ahead of Big Sky Conference opponent Montana State by nine strokes and are two strokes away from eighth-place Montana (303).
Gonzaga University and California Baptists both lead the event tied for first place overall with 287 strokes and Weber State leads the Big Sky Conference schools competing with 296 strokes to place fourth overall.
