GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Eastern Washington University golf squad finished the Bobcat Desert Spring Invite in ninth place after shooting 608 strokes in two rounds at the Estrella Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. The Eagles shot 305 strokes in the first round and 303 strokes in the second to beat out tournament host Montana State (630).  

"We posted some more good scores today. Hopefully that'll add some confidence as we head into our Big Sky Conference Tournament next week," said head coach Brenda Howe. "Jaelin Ishikawa shot a 72 today, and she hit the ball the best I've seen her hit it all spring."

Gonzaga University won the event in first place overall with 572 (287, 285) strokes and Weber State won among the Big Sky Conference schools competing with 588 (296, 292) strokes to place fourth overall.

The Eagles landed five strokes behind eighth place conference foe Montana (603) and seven strokes away from seventh place conference opponent Idaho State (601).

Eastern completes the regular season tournament play following the event and begin to prepare for the Big Sky Conference Championships next Monday-Wednesday on April 19-21 at the Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Ore. A practice round on Sunday, April 18 will be available for each team before competing in an 18-hole round play each day of the championships.
