Five Eastern Washington Golfers Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Alexa Clark, Jaelin Ishikawa, Morgan Baum, Stephanie Chelack and Carisa Padilla represent the Eagles

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – For the eighth-straight season, Eastern Washington University has representatives on the WGCA All-American Scholar list. Similar to the 2019-20 season, five Eagles have earned the distinction in senior Alexa Clark, junior Jaelin Ishikawa, sophomore Morgan Baum and freshmen Stephanie Chelack and Carisa Padilla.

To qualify, you must have a GPA of over 3.5 and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions. The Eagles produced five of the 34 student-athletes from nine different Big Sky Conference programs, with only Montana State and Northern Colorado each collecting more selections with six in total. A total of 1,432 collegiate golfers were recognized.

"It's an amazing accomplishment having our entire team receive this award," said head coach Brenda Howe. "All of them put in a tremendous amount of time and effort into their studies, and I'm extremely proud to see their hard work pay off in the classroom."

Clark, who recorded one top-20 finish, tying for 12th at the Bobcat Spring Invite (April 12-13), recently graduated with her degree in exercise science. The Richland, Wash., native finished her EWU career playing her best tournament at the Conference Championship (April 19-21) where she recorded a score of 237 (79, 78, 80) and has earned WGCA All-American honors all four years at Eastern Washington.

Ishikawa, who earned an All-Big Sky Conference Honorable Mention, earns WGCA All-American status for the third consecutive time in her career. The Makawao, Hawaii, native, who plans to graduate with a degree in Chemistry, played in all six tournaments this season and competed in every round for the Eagles.

Ishikawa finished in the top-ten once and recorded two top-20 finishes during the 2020-21 season. She ended the season with a new personal best three-round low of 225 (80, 75, 70) at the Big Sky Conference Championship.

Baum, a sophomore, lands on the list for the second time in her career and is majoring in exercise science. The Yakima, Wash., native competed in five tournaments and played 13 rounds of golf for the Eagles.

Chelack, a freshman from Alberta, Canada, and Padilla, a freshman from Santa Fe, N.M., earn WGCA All-American honors for the first time in their respective careers as they both appeared in all six tournaments this season.
