Women’s Golf Gets Season Underway with Kelsey Chugg Invitational

Season starts Sept. 20-21 in Eden, Utah

CHENEY, Wash. – With the announcement of the 2021-22 schedule, the Eastern Washington University women's golf team prepares for its first tournament of the new season as they compete in the Kelsey Chugg Invitational on Sept. 20-21 at the Wolf Creek Golf Course in Eden, Utah. The event consists of eight other teams including Cal State Bakersfield, Dixie State, as well as Big Sky Conference opponents Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah and hosts Weber State. The Eagles will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Pacific time on both days, with 36 holes of action on Monday and a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.

After the Kelsey Chugg Invitational, the Eagles travel to Anaconda, Mont., for the Battle at Old Works hosted by Montana State at the Old Works Golf Course on Sept. 27-28. The last time the Eagles competed at the Battle at Old Works they walked away in second place overall shooting 888 strokes, three strokes away from first place Cal Poly.

EWU will participate in a Griz Match Play on Oct. 5-6 in Missoula, Mont., before finishing the 2021 fall schedule competing at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite hosted by Seattle on Oct. 11-12 in Seattle, Wash. The Eagles won their last match play title back in 2019 after defeating Idaho State 5-0 and Montana 3-2 at the Missoula Country Golf Club. Additionally, EWU placed sixth out of 18 teams in their last time out at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite.

Following the four tournaments in the fall, the Eagles open the 2022 spring schedule competing in the Grand Canyon Invite in Phoenix, Ariz., on Feb. 28-March 1. A week later, EWU heads to the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Southern Utah in St. George, Utah., on Mar. 10-12.

The Eagles complete the regular season competing in the Cowgirl Classic hosted by Wyoming in Maricopa, Ariz., on Apr. 4-5 and the Bobcat Desert Invite hosted by Montana State in Goodyear, Ariz., on April 11-12.

The Big Sky Conference Championships will be held on Apr. 18-20 in Scottsdale Ariz.

With the departure of All-Big Sky performer Alexa Clark, the Eagles are excited to return junior Jaelin Ishikawa to continue their success. Ishikawa, who earned an All-Big Sky Conference Honorable Mention nod last season, notched two top-20 finishes and recorded a new personal best three-round low of 225 (80, 75, 70) during the 2020-21 season.

The Eagles welcome back sophomore Morgan Baum and freshmen Stephanie Chelack and Carisa Padilla. Alongside, EWU introduces two newcomers to the Eagle family in freshmen Kami Twining from Liberty Lake, Wash., and redshirt sophomore Meghan Singh from Mesa, Ariz.
