EDEN, Utah. – The Eastern Washington University golf team finished the third and final round at the Kelsey Chugg Invite today (Sept. 21) and landed in eighth place at the Wolf Creek Resort in Eden, Utah. The Eagles shot 319 in the first round, 329 in the second and 312 in the third to round out 960 total strokes.
"Today was a little better than yesterday. We really need to work on lowering our scores, especially in the 3-5 positions. That's what really hurt this week. Having to count anything in the 80's makes it really hard to be competitive," said head coach
Brenda Howe. "I felt our mental game really hurt us this week. It just looked like we had players playing scared. I did see some good scores from our newcomers
Kami Twining and
Meghan Singh. I think once they get settled in, they'll be really good additions to the team."
After three rounds,
Meghan Singh and
Kami Twining, both neck-in-neck, scored the two lowest results with a one point difference between the two newcomers.
Eastern Washington finished 66 strokes ahead of ninth place CSU Bakersfield and just six strokes away from seventh place Idaho State.
