CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team begins the 2021-22 season this Friday through Sunday, Sept. 24-2 in Pullman, Wash., as they compete in the Cougar Classic Fall Invite on the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
"We are thrilled to get back out to compete in the Fall tournaments again this year. We didn't have a Fall season last year, so the team is extra excited and ready to play in the Cougar Classic at WSU. The team has come back and looks strong and prepared, and we have had a good week of practices so far," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "This tournament is great because we get the chance to compete against some of our top regional teams, including some of our conference teams. I'm ready to see how we stack up this early in the season and to look for areas we can build upon as a team."
Eastern Washington is set for three tournaments in the fall with the Spring schedule set to begin on Jan. 23 at Washington.
The Eagles welcome back five returners from last season, including
Renata Gabuzyan,
Jennifer Kida,
Yasmin Mansouri,
Scout Mathews and
Louise Waite. Additionally, EWU welcomes
Isabella Foshee and
Kenzington Mann as newcomers to the roster.
Following the Cougar Classic, the Eagles travel to Stanford, Calif., for the ITA Northwest Regionals on Oct. 22-26.
