CHENEY, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team opens the 2022 spring schedule this Sunday against the Washington Huskies at noon in Seattle, Wash.

"It's been over two months since our last competition in the Fall. All of my players rested up and worked hard over the break to be ready for the dual match season," said head coach Dustin Hinson, who enters his 10^th season at the helm. "We are excited to get back out on court to compete as a team. We always enjoy playing at Washington and we certainly expect the competition to be tough. That's what we need to help us grow as players and develop as a team. This match will be a good starting point for our season and I expect some great matches."

The Eagles currently have an 0-7 all-time series record versus Washington but look to snap their losing streak to the Huskies on Sunday. Last season, the Eagles found success against the Huskies with freshman Jennifer Kida defeating her opponent in the No.2 singles spot. The pair of Louise Waite and Renata Gabuzyan also defeated their opponents in the No.3 doubles position.

The Huskies are led by head coach Robin Stephenson who enters her eighth season at the helm. Stephenson guided the Huskies to a 15-8 overall record with an even 5-5 Pac-12 Conference record last season.

Following this match, the Eagles take on Washington State on Saturday, Jan. 29. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. Pacific time in Pullman, Wash.
