Coming off a meet in Moscow, Idaho last weekend, the Eastern Washington University men's and women's track teams will travel again to Moscow for the University of Idaho Team Challenge this Saturday (Jan. 29) at the Kibbie Dome.

The meet will begin with field events at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw. The running events will start at 11 a.m. with the men's 60-meter hurdle prelims.
"The Idaho Team Challenge is historically a preview of things to come at the indoor championships. With Eastern, Idaho and Montana being the key teams, there will be several marquee events as each team sports conference champions and all-conference performers," explained head men's coach

At last weekend's meet on Saturday (Jan. 22) the Eagles won five events and set six new all-time top-ten marks at the McCluskey Open in Moscow, Idaho.

Two women set new all-time top-ten marks and two men set new all-time top-ten marks.

Bobby Say each set two all-time top-ten marks. Gaik got a first-place finish in the 200-meters, with a time of 21.48 which is the third fastest time in EWU history. He also competed in the 60-meter finals finishing third with a time of 6.88 which is the sixth-fastest time in EWU history.

Say placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 50-3 1/4 which is third all-time in Eastern Washington University history. He also competed in the long jump and finished second with a distance of 23-10 which is 10th all-time in EWU history.

Katrina Terry placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 12-11 1/2 which is the eighth-best mark in EWU history.
Katie Petsch placed first in the women's 60-meter dash finals with a time of 7.67 which is fifth all-time in the Eastern record book.

Joe Gauthier placed first in the men's 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 6.88.

Vernice Keyes placed first with a throw of 56-8.

"Last weekend's meet showed we're making solid progress and that this upcoming meet will show more of our depth across all event areas," Kerr stated. Â Â

"Idaho does a great job putting on their indoor meets so it is always fun to compete there. We had a mixed bag of results this past weekend. Whether the athletes got personal records or didn't do quite as well as they had hoped, they will have another opportunity to do better in a good facility. I am looking forward to getting our crew back there and watching them improve on last weekend's marks," explained head women's coach

Following this week's competition, Eastern will have a meet in Spokane, Wash. at The Podium for the WSU Invitational on Friday (Feb. 4) and Saturday (Feb. 5).
