With one win down, Eastern Washington women's basketball gets on the road for a night game against Boise State. Eastern plays the Broncos on Friday, Nov. 9 with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time.

Last Time Out
Eastern Washington's season opener was an 86-47 win against Corban University at Reese Court. The Eagles were in control from the opening tip and never trailed in the game. The team's largest lead was 39 points, which was the margin of victory.
Jaydia Martin scored 17 points to lead the team on 5-of-10(50%) shooting, going 3-of-6(50%) from three-point range.
Aaliyah Alexander scored 15 points in her return from injury and was 3-of-6(50%) from three-point range.
Jamie Loera scored 10 points in her first game as an Eagle.

The Eagles dished out 21 assists and had a 35-26 rebounding advantage over the Warriors. During the game, five freshmen made their debuts for Eastern.
Ella Gallatin scored seven points and
Jayden McNeal scored five.
Camille Jentzsch played 14 minutes and scored two points, grabbing two rebounds.
Addison Hall played three minutes and connected for her first three-point shot.
Breeje Schuler played nine minutes and scored her first point as an Eagle.

In the win over Corban, Eastern recorded the third-most steals for a single game in program history with 20.

A Look at the Eagles
Eastern had two postseason award winners as
Jaydia Martin earned Big Sky Freshman of the Year and
Jacinta Buckley was named All-Big Sky Third Team. Martin also earned All-Big Sky honorable mention honors.

With one full season complete, head coach
Joddie Gleason returns eight players from last season's team, including her five main starters. Martin, Buckley,
Andie Zylak,
Milly Knowles and
Jaleesa Lawrence give the Eagles a strong group of experienced talent for the upcoming season.

Key bench players also return for Eastern including
Alexis Pettis,
Devynn Warns and
Gabrielle Jung. Pettis played in all 30 games and averaged 7.5 points off the bench.

This season will also be the first time Gleason will get to utilize
Aaliyah Alexander, who sat out last season with an injury. Alexander started 21 games in the 2020-21 season, averaging 10.7 points per game and 4.4 rebounds.

The Eagles will benefit from a large recruiting class, bringing in seven freshmen. The class includes four forwards in
Jayden McNeal,
Cori Wilcox,
Addison Hall,
Camille Jentzsch and
Bella Hays. This group will help to increase the Eagles' presence in the paint. Gleason also augmented her already strong group of guards with
Ella Gallatin and
Breeje Schuler.

Jamie Loera joins the team from Arizona State as a graduate student to provide an experienced leader in the backcourt.

Preseason Polls
Eastern Washington was selected sixth in the Big Sky preseason coaches' poll leading up to the 2022-23 season. Eastern was picked to finish eighth in the preseason media poll. The team finished ninth in the Big Sky standings last season.

A Look at the Broncos
Boise State started the season with a 121-64 thrashing of Multnomah on Monday (Nov. 7). The team broke a program record for points in a single game. As a team, the Broncos shot 55.4 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from three-point range. Freshman guard Natalie Pasco scored 20 points off the bench for the Broncos. Junior forward Abby Muse tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds to add to the overwhelming effort from Boise St. Sophomore guard Linsey Lorovich and freshman guard Dani Bayes each scored 12 points for the Broncos.

Boise State head coach, Gordy Presnell, is in his 18th season leading the team and is the program's all-time win leader.
Series History
Eastern Washington has a 16-31 record against Boise State, with the Broncos winning the last eight games. The teams have played every season since 2010. Last season, the Eagles hosted Boise St. at Reese Court, dropping a tightly contested game, 63-72.
Jaleesa Lawrence scored a career high, 22 points in the game.
