Martin Earns Co-Big Sky Player of the Week

Jaydia Martin picks up her first career weekly honor

Opening the season with impressive offensive performances, Jaydia Martin was named Big Sky Co-Player of the Week by the conference today (Nov. 15). The award is Martin's first weekly honor of her career.

Martin averaged 16.7 points to help lead Eastern to its first 3-0 start since the 2006-07 season. The sophomore had a 47.1 field goal percentage overall on the floor and a blistering 57.1(5-of-11) percent from three-point range.

In total, Martin scored 50 points, adding nine rebounds, seven assists and eight steals. Martin committed only three turnovers in the three games as well.

Martin scored 16 points in the team's tightly contested 62-60 win over Southern Utah at home. She was 3-of-5(60%) from three and 5-of-12(41.7%) overall in the victory to keep the Eagles undefeated on the season.

Martin helped Eastern snap an eight-game losing streak against Boise State with an 83-74 win. It was the program's first win against a Mountain West team since 2017. The Vancouver, Wash. native scored 17 points on 5-of-10(50%) shooting and had five steals in the road win.

To open the season, Martin scored 17 points in 20 minutes of game time during the team's 86-47 win over Corban University.

After one week of games in the Big Sky, Martin ranks fifth in the conference in scoring. She is ninth in the Big Sky in field goal percentage and seventh in three-point field goal percentage.

Montana's State's Darian White was Co-Player of the Week with Martin after helping the Bobcats to a 2-0 record to begin the season. Martin joins the weekly awards club with teammate, Jacinta Buckley, who won Player of the Week this past February.
