EUGENE, Ore. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team competed against Portland today and dropped the match 6-1 at the Student Tennis Center in Eugene, Ore. The Eagles move to 0-5 overall with two non-conference matches left before Big Sky Conference play begins.
"There were some really bright spots out on the court today. Our doubles were really strong and that was a great win for
Yasmin Mansouri and
Isabella Foshee at No. 1 doubles," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "I'm really happy for
Kenzington Mann to get the singles win at No. 4. She is gaining confidence and playing well in the big moments of matches. That's exciting to see. Overall, I'm very pleased with what we accomplished this weekend. Despite some tough circumstances outside of our control, we brought the "work and want" to each match we played. That's the mentality we will continue to bring to the practice court over the next couple of weeks."
The Eagles only competed in four singles matches, with freshman
Kenzington Mann collecting a victory at the No. 4 spot in a gripping, three-set tie breaker.
In addition, the Eagles only participated in two doubles matches, with
Yasmin Mansouri and
Isabella Foshee teaming up at the No. 1 doubles position to take down the Pilots duo, 6-3. Â
