BOX SCORE
OGDEN, Utah – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis squad competed against Weber State today and fell 6-1 on the road. With the loss, the Eagles move to 3-8 overall and an even 2-2 Big Sky Conference record.
"I thought this was a much better performance overall today than our previous match. We competed well and we were right there in all of the matches," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "The main difference from our last match is that we played with more confidence and with a winning attacking game style and mentality. We needed to execute in a few cases where we had chances in matches. But we were in position and we were looking to take the aggressive shots that we like to have on our racquet. I'm really excited with how
Scout Mathews dominated in her singles match at No. 2 today. She played with confidence and belief, and it was fun to watch her take that match from start to finish. We will keep working hard this week to be prepared for our upcoming matches."
Scout Mathews locked in a win at the No. 2 singles spot after dominating 6-2 in both sets.
Renata Gabuzyan found early success after defeating her opponent in set one at the No. 4 singles spot (6-3), but could not find the winning result.
