Results.
The Eastern Washington University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams continued its season today (Mar. 24) at the Buc Scoring / Combined Events Meet in Spokane, Wash., at the Whitworth Pine Bowl. The Eagles kicked off a busy weekend of action with the start of the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon, which will conclude tomorrow afternoon.
For the decathlon six Eagles are competing in
Elijah Conley,
Quintin Porterfield,
Chris Homen, Braydon Freitag,
Parker Wubbena, and Ryan Reickmann.
For the heptathlon two women in
Maggie Nelson and
Hayden McAuliff are competing.
At the conclusion of the first day events of the decathlon Conley, Porterfield, and Homen are in first through third place, respectively. Conley is in first place with 3,314 points. Porterfield is in second place also with 3,314 points. Homen is in third place with 3,275 points.
In the decathlon shot put Conley placed first with a mark of 41-11 1/4. Conley placed fifth in the decathlon 100-meter dash with a time of 11.77. In the decathlon long jump he placed seventh with a mark of 19-10 3/4. In the decathlon high jump, he placed fifth with a mark of 5-9 1/4. In the decathlon 400-meter dash he placed second with a time of 50.98.
In the decathlon 400-meter dash, Porterfield placed first with a time of 50.86. In the decathlon 100-meter dash he placed second with a time of 11.38. He also placed second in the decathlon long jump with a mark of 20-8 1/2. He then, in the decathlon shot put, placed sixth with a mark of 35-7 1/4. In the decathlon high jump, he placed seventh with a mark of 5-8.
In the decathlon 100-meter dash Homen placed third with a time of 11.45. In the decathlon high jump, he placed third with a mark of 5-11 1/2. He also placed third in the decathlon 400-meter dash with a time of 51.84. In the decathlon long jump he placed sixth with a mark of 19-11 3/4. In the decathlon shot put Homen placed seventh with a mark of 35-3.
"The decathletes got off to a solid start today at the Buc Scoring / Combined Events Meet. It's great the see the top three spots held by Eagles at the end of day one. Conley, Porterfield and Homen dialed in today and have set themselves up for a good day two," explained head men's coach

Freitag is in ninth place with 2,744 points. Wubbena is in 13
th place with 2,441 points. Rieckmann is in 14
thplace with 1,915 points.
The Eastern women are in third and fifth place in the heptathlon after the first events of the heptathlon. Nelson is in third place with 2,881 points and McAuliff is in fifth with 2,314 points. With three events left tomorrow, Nelson needs just 1,977 points to break the EWU school heptathlon record.
In the heptathlon 100-meter hurdles Nelson placed third with a time of 15.84. This time was a personal record for her from her previous record of 16.25. In the heptathlon high jump, she placed first with a mark of 5-4 1/4. She also placed first in the heptathlon shot put with a mark of 40-1 1/2. She then placed fourth in the heptathlon 200-meter dash with a time of 27.14.
"Nelson is in position to win and set to break the Eastern Washington University record. She had a personal record hurdle race and tied her high jump personal record. Hayden is in fifth hobbled by an injured ankle but still posted good marks in the hurdles and 200-meter dash," stated jumps and multi-events coach

McAuliff is in fifth place with 2,314 points. In the heptathlon 100-meter hurdles McAuliff placed sixth with a time of 16.57. In the heptathlon high jump, she also placed sixth with a mark of 4-5 1/2. McAuliff placed fifth in the heptathlon shot put with a mark of 28-3. Then in the heptathlon 200-meter dash she placed second with a time of 26.44.
"Today's heptathlon events are a great start to the weekend's meets with the Buc Scoring / Combined Events Meet today and tomorrow and the Al Manuel tomorrow and Saturday. Maggie is on track to score big, so it'll be fun to see how she does tomorrow," explained head women's coach

"The other big positive today was the weather allowing such a good competition to take place. The guys will get a good rest tonight and lace 'em up tomorrow to conclude the decathlon," stated Kerr.
Eastern Washington University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will compete tomorrow at the second and final day of the Buc / Combined Events Meet in Spokane, Wash. at the Whitworth Pine Bowl. The Eagle's will also be competing in Missoula, Mont., at the first day of the Al Manuel Invitational at Dornblaser Field.
