Women’s Soccer Releases 2022 Spring Schedule

The Eagles are set for five matches, including one at home

CHENEY, Wash. - Keen to return to the pitch for the first time since October, Eastern Washington University head soccer coach Missy Strasburg has announced the 2022 spring schedule.

The Eagles play five matches, with one to be played at home at the EWU Soccer Field.

"We are really pleased with how this spring schedule has come together. It's a real blessing to be in a region with such nationally competitive programs, and across multiple divisions," said head coach Missy Strasburg. "Our intention this spring is to really challenge our returning players and continue to build on the tactical, technical and mentality growth we gained last fall, while increasing the confidence of each player. As a staff, we feel that the balance of playing the variety of programs we have scheduled should really help us achieve that, and help us prepare for our pursuit of a Big Sky Championship in 2022."

The bill begins on April 9 when Eastern travels to Ellensburg, Wash., to face Seattle University at 2 p.m. Pacific Time. The next day, on April 10, the Eagles head back to Ellensburg for a 2 p.m. match against Central Washington.

On April 23, EWU welcomes Walla Walla Community College to the EWU Soccer Field with the kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m. PT. The home match is free and open for the public to attend.

Eastern Washington travels to nearby Gonzaga on April 30 for a 1 p.m. matchup. The spring schedule closes at the University of Washington on May 22 at 2 p.m.

EWU is coming off of a 5-12 season that saw them finish seventh in the Big Sky Conference. Despite losing eight seniors to graduation, the Eagles return six goal scorers from a year ago as Strasburg begins her second season at the helm.

Eastern returns three-time first team All-Big Sky midfielder Madison Kem as well as Maddie Morgan, who scored three goals and handed out one assist last season. The Eagles will look to replace two All-Big Sky second team picks in defender Jordyn King and goalkeeper Kelsee Winston.
