The signees keep arriving for head coach
Joddie Gleason's first recruiting class, as she announced the additions of guard Jamie Loera and forward Bella Hays to the 2022 class.
With the additions of Loera and Hays, Gleason's inaugural class has seven total signees, joining the five from the November early signing period. The five signees include Ella Gallatin (Snohomish, Wash.), Camille Jentzsch (Lake Stevens, Wash.), Jayden McNeal (Boise, Idaho), Breeje Shuler (New Zealand) and Cori Wilcox (Lake Stevens, Wash).Â

Jamie Loera will join the Eagles as a graduate transfer from Arizona State. While playing in Tempe, Loera was a part of the Sun Devils team that went to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2019 NCAA tournament and qualify for the 2021 NIT tournament. During her first season, Loera led the team in three-point field goal percentage. Loera earned a spot on the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll for the 2019-20 season.
A native of Moses Lake, Wash., Loera scored 1,526 points while playing at Moses Lake HS and guided her team to four, top-five finishes and third place in 2018. Loera excelled in her senior year, averaging 17.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She was nominated for the Gatorade Player of the year and the McDonald's All-American team in 2018. Her senior year success earned numerous awards, including AP first-team, All-State(Wash.) and Columbia Basin 4A Player of the Year honors. Loera was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2018 and was named to USA Today's All-USA Washington Girls Basketball, second team.
As a junior in 2017, Loera was named 4A All-Conference offensive and Defensive Player of the Year. She was selected to be first-team, All-State by the Tacoma Tribune and Seattle Times and was a second-team All-State tournament team selection. Loera's sophomore season was highlighted by first-team offense and defense, Conference selections for 4A Big 9. She picked up her first, All-State tournament second-team in the season as well. In her freshman season, Loera was an All-League second-team offense selection.
Born on Aug. 24, Loera is the daughter of Lori and Javier. Her high school coach is Matt Strophy. Loera will pursue her Master's degree in Organizational Leadership at Eastern Washington.

She is an outstanding combo guard who has not only competed in the Pac-12 for several years but has completed her degree and knows what it takes to excel as a student-athlete. She will bring instant competitiveness, maturity, and leadership to the program along with the ability to score at all three levels, rebound, and bring the necessary toughness we need to move the program forward. Bella Hays arrives in Cheney after a decorated career at Wasilla High School. In high school, Hays averaged 13.4 points per game and recorded a 61-percent shooting mark. Hays was a dominate player, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game, adding 1.6 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. Hays was a three-time, first-team All-State selection. She also was a four-time, first-team All-Conference selection.
Hays is an all-around impressive athlete, earning four letters in basketball and three in volleyball. She also added three letters in Track and Field. With Hays' help, Wasilla HS won the Northern Lights conference championship in 2019 and 2020. In 2022, Hays was named the MVP of the Dimond Tournament after Wasilla won the tournament. Hays' team also won the West Valley Ice Jam and ACS Pepsi Tournaments.
Born Feb. 4, Hays is the daughter of Amber and Justin Hays. Her college coach is Jeannie Hebert-Truax. At Eastern, Hayes will pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.
Gleason on Hays: "Bella is a post player that can score inside and has the ability to shoot the ball or put it on the floor. Bella hails from a winning program at Wasilla High School and led her team to a second-place finish in the Alaska State Championships this year. Bella is a person of high character and provides a phenomenal basketball presence at both ends of the court. She helps solidify our interior game and will be able to make an immediate impact. Bella and Jamie will join the group of freshmen we signed in the early period to create a fantastic recruiting class of Eagles!"
