The sophomore piled up the points and helped Eastern to a 2-0 record during the holiday weekend

The Eagles shooting star, Jaydia Martin, was named the Big Sky Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the conference today (Jan. 17). Martin took her game to another level this weekend and led Eastern Washington to a pair of wins, averaging 24.5 points per game, with a 50.0 shooting percentage and 47.4 percentage from three-point range. In addition, she averaged 6.0 rebounds per game, recording two steals, two assists and one block in the two games.

The sophomore shot 60.9 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from three-point range. It was Eastern's first 30-point game since Grace Kirscher scored 31 on March 6, 2020, and the most points since Violet Kapri Morrow scored 37 on Jan. 19, 2019.

Martin started the weekend with 16 points against Idaho. She shot 33.3 percent from the floor and 50.0 from three-point range. Martin pulled down eight rebounds to help the Eagles top Idaho, 74-59.

Martin is sixth in the Big Sky with a 15.8 points per game average. She is averaging 19.2 points per game in Big Sky matchups. Her 4.7 rebounds per game also ranks 20th in the Big Sky. With a 41.7 shooting percentage, Martin holds the seventh spot on the conference leaderboard. From behind the arc, Martin is shooting 36.9 percent to rank fourth in the Big Sky.

This marks the second Player of the Week award for Martin after she earned Co-Player of the Week in week one of the season.

Eastern Washington will be at Reese Court this week for games against Northern Colorado on Thursday (Jan. 19) and Northern Arizona on Saturday (Jan. 21). The games begin at 11 a.m. Pacific Time and 2 p.m. respectively.
