CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington University announced today the program's track and field schedule for the 2023-24 season, as finalized by Director of Track and Field Erin Tucker.

Eastern is slated to compete in 10 indoor and 13 outdoor meets not including NCAA championships. Among many highlights, EWU will host the 2024 Big Sky Indoor Championships, in partnership with the conference and Spokane Sports, at The Podium in downtown Spokane on Feb. 22-24.

Indoor Season

The Eagles kick off their indoor season with the Spokane Invitational at The Podium on Dec. 9, marking their only meet in December. They'll return to action on Jan. 12-13, again at The Podium for Spokane Indoor Challenge and Spokane Sports Showcase.

Six days later, Eastern's track team travels for the Lauren McCluskey Memorial hosted by University of Idaho in Moscow on Jan. 19-20. On Jan. 26, some Eagles will head to Seattle for the University of Washington Invite, while others will return to The Podium for the third time on Jan. 27 for a meet hosted by Whitworth University.

In February, WSU hosts the Riverfront Invitational & Multis at The Podium from Feb. 1-3. Feb. 9-10 has EWU in split meets at the Husky Classic hosted by UW in Seattle and the Third Annual Whitworth Invite at The Podium. The Eagles will then focus up for the Big Sky Indoor Championships on Feb. 22-24. Qualifying student-athletes will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championship located in Boston on March 8-9.

Outdoor Season

EWU will open their outdoor season at the Hayward Preview hosted by University of Oregon in Eugene on March 15-16. They'll then participate in the Whitworth Peace Meet on Spokane's northside from March 21-22. Whitworth hosts another meet on April 5, then the team will compete in four separate meets on April 11-13: the Whitworth Twilight Invite in Spokane, the the Pacific Coach Intercollegiate (Apr. 11) and Beach Invitational (Apr. 12-13) in Long Beach, Calif., and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.

The team will again split up on April 19-20, competing at WSU's Cougar Classic in Pullman, the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Central Washington University, and the University of Montana Open in Missoula, Mont. On April 26-27, in their last tuneup before Big Sky Conference Championships, the Eagles travel to Corvalis, Ore. for the Oregon State High Performance Meet and Tucson, Ariz. for the Desert Heat Classic.

After 23 scheduled competitions of the indoor and outdoor season (24 including NCAA Indoor Championships), Eastern Washington University heads to the 2024 Big Sky Outdoor Championship in Missoula, Mont. on May 8-11.

Qualifying athletes will compete at the NCAA Outdoor First Round in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 22-25, then the NCAA Outdoor Championship finals will be held on Jun. 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Eastern sent five athletes to last year's regional and triple jumper Bobby Say became the 24th Eagle in history to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

EWU welcomes 37 newcomers for 2023-24, including 17 women and 20 men. Among the returners include 2023 NCAA Regional qualifiers Ryan Rieckmann (javelin), Zach Klobutcher (pole vault), and Savannah Schultz (pole vault).
