FARMINGTON, Utah — Eastern Washington University senior hurdler
Madelyn Knight was named Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. Knight set a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday afternoon at the Spokane Invitational in Spokane, Wash.
Knight, who finished 4th at the 2024 Big Sky Outdoor Championships in the 100-meter hurdles, showed out in her first meet as a senior team captain, finishing second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57. She was even faster in her qualifying time at 8.56, marking a new personal best, the top mark in the conference this season, and 2nd all-time at Eastern. Knight now looks to chase down Seville Broussard's 1999 time of 8.51 at the top of the Eagle list.
"'Madi the Magnificent' came to play today and even though both races and the 4x4 are way better than she ran last year, the best is yet to come," EWU Director of Track and Field Erin Tucker said after the meet. "She showed up and showed out (on Saturday), but please, please, please stay tuned!"
