As the conference schedule heads into the home stretch, Eastern Washington women's basketball team will travel down to play Idaho on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. Pacific Time. The game is Eastern's only matchup this week.

Last Time Out
Eastern Washington completed a two-game homestand this past Saturday (Feb. 7) against Portland State. The Eagles faced a hot-shooting Vikings team that finished with a 60.4 shooting percentage, leading to an 80-71 win for Portland St. Eastern trailed at half but outscored the Vikings, 25-13 in the third quarter to cut the lead to one. In the fourth quarter, Portland St. resumed its high-level shooting to secure the road win.
Aaliyah Alexander scored 19 points for the second straight game, shooting 7-of-13(53.8%) from the floor.
Jamie Loera was on triple-double watch, scoring 16 points with eight assists and seven rebounds. She also had five steals in the game.
Alexis Pettis added 12 points off the bench for the Eagles. Â
A Look at the Eagles
Eastern Washington is 7-5 in the Big Sky and 14-8 overall this season. The team is on a one-game losing streak and is 5-4 in road games, going 9-4 at home. With a 71.6 points per game average, Eastern has the second-best scoring offense in the conference. The team has a plus-6.8 scoring margin to also rank second. Efficiency in shooting is key for the Eagles' offense, as the team carries a 42.7 percentage this season, second in the Big Sky.
All season, Eastern has taken care of the ball, holding a 4.55 turnover margin, the top mark in the conference. The Eagles carry the top assist-to-turnover margin with a 1.28 figure. Each game, Eastern dishes out 15.45 assists with 340 total this season. Creating turnovers is also key, with the team holding a 9.09 steals per game average.
Aaliyah Alexander is steadily moving up the leaderboard during Big Sky play this season, averaging 14.2 points per game hold 10
th in the Big Sky. She averages 11.7 points per game overall this season, ranking 16
th. Behind the arc, Alexander averages 1.6 made three-point shots a game, good for 15
th in the conference. The redshirt-sophomore is averaging 2.0 made threes a game in conference matchups that stands at 6
th in the Big Sky.
Jamie Loera seems to be a double-double threat every game averaging 10.7 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. Additionally, Loera accounts for 4.7 assists per game to rank second in the Big Sky. Her 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio is the top mark in the conference, averaging only 2.1 turnovers per game. The Moses Lake, Wash. is key in creating turnovers as well, averaging 2.5 steals per game with 54 this season. In conference games, Loera is 10
th in the Big Sky and is second on the team with 6.3 rebounds per game.
Jaleesa Lawrence has also improved her scoring since conference matchups began, averaging 10.8 points per game. She is one of four Eagles averaging double-digit points in Big Sky play, joining Alexander, Loera and
Jaydia Martin (18.4).
Over the past four games,
Milly Knowles has averaged 7.0 points per game and accounted for 12 rebounds.
Gabrielle Jung has seen her playing time increase steadily, averaging 15.3 minutes over the past four games. Jung matched her career-high with nine points against Portland St. this past weekend.
Scouting the Vandals
Idaho has a 5-7 record in the Big Sky games and is 9-14 for the 2022-23 season so far. The team lost its last game to Sacramento State, 70-77, in Moscow. The Vandals had previously won three-straight games. This season, Idaho leads the Big Sky with 9.3 made three-point shots a game, with 213 total made. Overall from the floor, the Vandals are shooting 39.8 percent. Per game, Idaho averaged 68.3 points per game and allows 72.7 to opponents.
Senior Beyonce Bea averages a conference-leading 21.7 points per game, while ranking third in the Big Sky with 8.6 rebounds per game. With a 47.3 shooting percentage, Bea holds the third-ranked mark in the conference. Bea's presence in the paint is key for Idaho, as she leads the team with 1.2 blocks per game. She earned the latest Big Sky women's basketball Player of the Week, giving her four weekly awards this season.
Series History
Eastern Washington is 34-42 against Idaho in program history, posting a 9-24 record on the road, 20-17 at home and 4-2 in neutral site games. The Eagles snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Vandals earlier this season, winning 74-59 in Cheney (1/14).
