Women’s Tennis at Montana State and Montana for weekend battle

Eagles face the Bobcats on Friday and Grizzlies on Sunday

The Eastern Washington University women's tennis squad takes the road trip to the Treasure State for its final regular season Big Sky Conference away matches as they face Montana State in Bozeman, Mont., this Friday, April 7 at 8 a.m. Pacific Time. On Sunday, April 9, the Eagles face Montana in Missoula, Mont., at 8 a.m. PT. EWU heads into the weekend sitting 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Eastern returns after falling to Sac. St. last weekend, 6-1. The Eagles found their success in Kenzington Mann after she delivered the team a victory at the No. 6 singles spot, winning 6-3, 6-4.

Scouting Montana State

Montana State holds a 4-11 overall and 1-4 conference record. They return to the courts after falling to Northern Arizona 7-0, with their solo league win coming from Idaho (4-3). The Bobcats are led by Suzie Woodburn who enters her first year at the helm.

The last time EWU faced MSU dates to last season when the Eagles hosted the Bobcats to a 5-2 victory. The Eagles hold an all-time series record of 3-40 against the Bobcats, but haven't lost since their first victory dating back to February of 2019. Following last season's win over MSU, EWU has solidified a three-match winning streak.

Scouting Montana

Montana is led by head coach Steve Ascher, who enters his 15th season at the helm and currently leads his team to a 5-11 overall and an 2-4 conference record. The team has defeated Montana State (6-1) and Idaho (5-2).

The Eagles hold an all-time series record of 16-47 against the Grizzlies with a four-match winning streak, while head coach Dustin Hinson holds a winning 6-4 all-time record against the Montana program.

Following the weekend, EWU returns home to host its final two regular season matches, welcoming Weber State on April 14 at 2 p.m. PT and Portland State on April 16 at 11 a.m. PT.
