ATLANTA, Ga. — Academic success continues to be synonymous with Eastern Washington women's basketball, as the team earns a Special Mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

Eastern earned a 3.15 cumulative team GPA during the 2022-23 season. The award marks the second under the guidance of head coach Joddie Gleason.

In the conference, Eagles were one of four Big Sky programs to earn Special Mentions with the group including Montana State, Montana and Portland State. Earlier this year, Eastern placed 10 student-athletes on the Big Sky Winter All-Academic list.

Eastern has a history of success with the WBCA academic awards, appearing on the Top-25 list 17 times, most recently in 2018 when they were 18th on the Honor Roll.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2022-23 season is the 28th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls. Outside of those 25 schools, the association also awards special mention to any program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

New for the 2023-24 season, the EWU Women's Sports Pass gives fans access to over 30 Eagle Athletics events, including volleyball, soccer and women's basketball for only $5 per game! Learn more and get yours today at goeags.com/tickets or call 509-359-6056.
