CHENEY, Wash. — The Eastern Washington Eagles, after a thrilling double overtime defeat against the reigning Mountain West Champion Fresno State last week, received votes in the latest Stats Perform PCS Top 25 media poll, as announced on Monday. Eastern earned 9 votes heading into their home opener on Saturday in Cheney against No. 19 Southeastern Louisiana.
The Eagles, one of the premier teams in the entire FCS for the last decade-plus, were unranked coming into the season for the first time since 2007. They have been ranked in 136 of the last 156 national polls, highlighted by a 57-week streak that ended in 2015 and a 46-week streak that ended in 2019. The program has finished the season ranked 17 times since 1985.
The Big Sky Conference leads the country with six teams ranked, including four teams on Eastern's schedule this year.
