SPOKANE, Wash. — Eastern Washington women's tennis nearly had its second win in two days, but came up just short in Spokane. Eastern fell to Gonzaga, 4-3, winning the doubles point and two singles in the loss. EWU is now 2-8 on the season.

"This was a great weekend to be an Eagle. We played with true heart, respect and integrity on the court today," head coach Dustin Hinson said. "I'm very proud of the way we are working and the confident energy we are exuding each time we step on the court. We are definitely playing with belief. While we didn't get the team win today, we won in so many more important ways and that's what I'm most proud of. We will always do things the right way and that's what makes us Eagles' women's tennis on and off the court. Go Eags!"

The match started strong for the Eagles as they secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 3. Scout Mathews and Isabella Foshee handled business with a 6-3 win against Kianna Oda and Tiegan Aitken. Jennifer Kida and Kenzington Mann secured the point at No. 3 with hard-fought, 7-5 win over Brooke Bittner and Caroline Wernli.

The 'Zags jumped in front with wins in singles at No. 1 and 6. Gonzaga moved closer with a win at No. 5 singles. Kida grabbed a win at No. 2 over Oda in straight sets (6-2, 6-4). Foshee then tied the match at three with a win at the No. 4 singles, winning in a three-set battle (3-6, 6-1, 6-4).

With the score tied, the 'Zags won the match in a three-set win at the No. 3 singles..
