PHOENIX, Ariz. — The 2025-26 season concluded for Eastern Washington women's tennis on Thursday at the Big Sky Championships. Eastern, the No. 4 seed, faced the No. 5 seed Idaho in Phoenix, with the Vandals winning 4-0.

Idaho won the doubles point and then clinched the match with three singles victories. After securing the match win, the remaining three singles matches were not completed.

"We won the first set on three and five, and we were close to splitting sets on the number two match. We couldn't pull out one of the other matches," head coach Dustin Hinson described. "It's not the way we wanted the season to end, but I told the team that we have a lot to be proud of this season, especially finishing with a winning record. We've really built the program, and I want to be at this level of qualifying for the conference tournament every year. That's what we want to be and face these kinds of experiences for this kind of exposure to the championship environment."

The Vandals won doubles after taking the No. 1 and No. 2 matches, with No. 3 going unfinished.

Idaho then won at No. 6 singles and No. 1 to go up 3-0 on EWU. They secured the match win with a win at the No. 4 singles match.

The Eagles finish the season 11-9 and 5-3 in the Big Sky.

Hinson reflected on his senior class and the returning Eagles for 2026-27, "I'm excited and proud to be a part of this team, and for our three seniors to finish the way they did after having really strong seasons. That was part of building the culture that we wanted to accomplish, and the seniors really contributed to that goal. I'm very proud of them for everything they achieved this season. It's going to solidify us moving forward as we continue building with the five core players coming back and adding three new players to keep building for future years."
