CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington women's tennis hosted Idaho to finish its homestand today. The Vandals defeated Eastern, 4-3, winning the final three singles matches to clinch the victory. EWU falls to 1-3 in the Big Sky and 3-12 overall.

"This was a really hard-fought match today. I'm very proud of the effort we poured into each match," head coach Dustin Hinson said. "We never gave up and we battled tough until the end. The positive energy we had and just the whole vibe was a step up. We will use that to grow and improve for our upcoming matches."

Idaho went up 1-0 with the doubles point after winning the No. 2 and 3 matches.

The Eagles opened singles strong with three wins. Scout Mathews (6-3, 6-2) and Anait Arutiunian 6-3, 6-0) both won in straight sets at No. 1 and 3 respectively.
