LONG BEACH, Calif. — It was a busy weekend for Eastern Washington track and field, but the effort paid off. Seven Eagles joined or improved their marks on the program's top 10 performance lists.
"Another meet, another record! Actually, two meets two school records as she broke the outdoor school record at the Pacific Coast invitational on Thursday. She then came back to be the first woman over 42' in school history on Saturday!," Director of Track and Field Erin Tucker explained, "What can we say about Egypt; the Big Sky Jump Queen PR's at every meet! At this point, it is her-against-her. She also took down her indoor personal best twice this weekend! Even though she didn't get the win, it still felt special and she is not done!"
Pacific Coast Intercollegiate: Thursday (April 11)
It's anyone's guess what the EWU triple jump record will be by the end of the season as Caitlin Simmons set a new program mark for the third time this season. "Egypt" Simmons won the triple jump with a 12.78m mark, surpassing last week's performance by .08m.
Madelyn Knight improved her personal best in the 400m hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:01.37. The senior's PR keeps her at eighth on the program's all-time performance list. Then in the 100m hurdles, Knight matched her personal best with a time of 13.92 seconds. Knight placed 15th in the event at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.
"Nice work for Madi the Magnificent on another PR this time in the 400IH," Tucker emphasized. "We are still working on some things there, so she is not done with the 400IH nor the 100HH. Stay tuned!"
Kris Phennicie moved into the program's top 10 list in the 100m, posting a 10.61 second run. The time puts Phennicie in a tie for seventh on the program's all-time performance list.
Ryan Rieckmann picked up another win in javelin, recording a 66.86m performance.
In the 800m, Owen Higgins placed third with a time of 1:51.89, 59 seconds off of his personal best.
Beach Invite: Friday-Saturday (April 12-13)
After breaking the record on Thursday, Simmons placed second in the triple jump with a 12.77m mark.
Eastern's pole vault continued to be the standard, with Lucas Couron recording a 5.16m mark. Couron is now tied for second on the program's top 10 list with Zach Klobutcher.
"Hats off to Lucas Couron on his number two All-Time jump tying his training partner and indoor school record holder Zach," Tucker added. "Those two are a great duo and I am excited to see those two push each other the rest of this season!"
Competing in the decathlon, Cody Teevens placed sixth with a 6563 score. Teevens' total places him at fifth on the EWU top 10 list.
"My main man Cody told Coach Jo and Coach Jake his plan was to PR in every event of the decathlon this weekend and let me tell you, he almost called it," Tucker described. "He had four event PR's, two second-best marks and his total score was a PR. These are not just decathlon PR's, these are PR's that are better than his open events in regular meets! Cody was on and he went from ninth All-Time to fifth! He is not done, wait until we get to Bozeman!"
Bryan Clay Invite: Thursday-Saturday (April 11-13)
Kaylin Sheley put her name on the open 3000m steeplechase all-time performance list, running it in a 10:43.93 time. Sheley now holds fifth on the all-time list.

Linnenburger, running in the 10000m, recorded a time of 36:15.94 minutes. The time puts Linnenburger at fifth on EWU performance list.
Also in the 10000m, Peters ran the event in 30:40.44, moving into 10th on the all-time list.
"Shout out Coach Sam and the distance crew as Nattie jumps to #10 all-time in the 5k list, Ellie in her 1st 10k ever goes to 6th All-time, Evan snags the #10 all-time in the 10k himself and we had about 5 other PR's from that group over the weekend. That group is gaining a lot of momentum and confidence and I know it will show during our trip to Bozeman in 4 weeks!"
