FARMINGTON, Utah — In a regular occurrence, Caitlin Simmons earned Big Sky field Athlete of the Week after breaking her own program record in the triple jump. Egypt Simmons set the record for the third time in 2024 with a 12.78m mark at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif.

The award is Simmons' third Athlete of the Week award this season.  

Simmons stays on top of the Big Sky rankings with her new record-mark and is ranked 26th on the NCAA West qualifying list. 

After winning the triple jump at the Intercollegiate, Simmons nearly broke the record for a fourth time at the Beach Invite, jumping 12.77m. She placed second at the Invite. 

Simmons then competed in the long jump, posting a 6.06m mark to place eighth. 

Eastern Washington gets a closer road trip this weekend, traveling down to the Cougar Classic in Pullman, Wash. on Saturday (April 20).
