FARMINGTON, Utah — A new week and another award for Caitlin Simmons. The redshirt-junior mixed it up this weekend, earning Big Sky Co-Field Athlete of the Week in the long jump.

Competing at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Ariz., Simmons posted a 6.22m jump to place fifth in the event. 

The mark is tied for second in the Big Sky this season, along with ranking second in EWU history. Simmons already held the number two spot on Eastern performance list (6.20m) and now improves her own record. 

With the co-Athlete of the Week award, Simmons now has four weekly honors this season. This is Simmons first in the long jump after winning the first three in triple jump. 

In Tucson, Simmons also competed in triple jump, placing seventh with a 12.58m mark. 

Simmons shares the Athlete of the Week award with Montana State's Elena Carter. Carter matched Simmons' mark in the long jump with a 6.22m jump. 

Eastern is off until the Big Sky Championships begin in Bozeman on April 8, running through April 11.
