Eagles place 57 on Spring Big Sky All-Academic list

Eastern Washington keeps its success in the classroom

FARMINGTON, Utah — After another strong quarter in the classroom, 57 Eastern Washington University student-athletes earned Big Sky Spring All-Academic honors. The conference announced its full list of academic honorees today.

Eastern was led by women's track and field with 22 student-athletes earning spots on the Spring All-Academic list. Men's track and field followed with 16 student-athletes. Men's tennis placed all seven members of its roster on the list, with women's tennis and women's golf each sporting six academic honorees. 

EWU also had 21 student-athletes who carried a 4.0 GPA through the spring quarter. 

The Big Sky Conference totaled 667 student-athletes qualified for Spring All-Academic honors, with 102 earning 4.0 GPAs. 

Student-athlete qualify for the award if the meet the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution. 

Track and field student-athletes must have participated in at least half of the team's competitions or competed at the conference championship to qualify. 

As a department, Eastern Athletics extended "The Streak" to 51 consecutive quarters with a GPA over 3.0, earning a 3.42 cumulative figure for the spring.
