ATLANTA, Ga. — In a season of historic success on the court, Eastern Washington women's basketball maintained its elite level in the classroom. Eastern earned a Special Mention on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) honor roll.

To qualify for the WBCA honor roll special mention, a team must have a 3.0 combined GPA. Teams also must be nominated for the honor by their head coach, who must be a WBCA member.

The Eagles carried a 3.42 cumulative GPA for the 2023-24 academic year. This marks the third-straight special mention for head coach Joddie Gleason's team. Eastern has appeared on the WBCA Top-25 honor roll 17 times, most recently in 2018.

EWU was one of five Big Sky programs appearing on the honor roll, with Northern Arizona holding the 19th best GPA in the nation. Montana State, Portland State and Sacramento State all joined the Eagles with a special mention.

In May, six Eagles earned Big Sky winter All-Academic honors.

Eastern is the reigning Big Sky regular and postseason conference champion, posting a 29-6 record in 2023-24. EWU made its second appearance in the NCAA Tournament at the No. 14 seed, facing the No. 4 seed Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore. The 29 victories set a program and Big Sky conference record wins in a single season.
