CHENEY, Wash. - For the first time in her Eagle career, senior Isabella Foshee earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors announced by the conference today.

After pacing the Eagles in the No.1 singles and doubles position, the senior went 2-0 on the weekend, and helped Eastern in their 4-3 victory over UC Davis. This was the first win for the Eagles over the Aggies in their third all-time meeting. 

"Isabella is one of those athletes that just works so hard and puts in extra time. She's a senior and has kind of built throughout the program. She's one of our senior captains and is a great leader on the team and she leads with her energy and her hard work and dedication to the sport and the team. You couldn't have picked a better person and player to win this award,"  head coach Dustin Hinson said.

In the No. 1 doubles position, Isabella Foshee and Kenzington Mann would cruise to doubles victory and defeat Mika Ikemori/Isabella Bringas 6-2. Foshee would then come right back and face Mike Ikemori in the No. 1 singles match. Foshee would take the early lead and win the first set 7-5, but would lose the second set 4-6. Foshee would regroup and display a dominant performance to pull out the win 6-1 in the third set and set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. 

"With her with her game, she's just come so far from when she came in as a freshman and working on her ability to stay focused in and mentally tough from start to finish in a match and I think this last weekend's match, both doubles and singles she did exactly that from start to finish, which is just just a tip of the hat to her and just getting this award is icing on the cake for her to show that when you work hard and put in the time good things will come," Hinson said.

Foshee and the Eagles will look to build from their home opener on the road this week. Eastern Washington (1-0) will face off against Washington State (1-0) and Gonzaga (0-0). EWU will travel to Pullman to take on the Cougs Friday, Jan. 17 at 3 pm, and then will travel to Spokane to take on the Bulldogs Sunday, Jan. 19 at 3 pm.
