CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington showed grit and determination, battling throughout the match despite a 3–0 setback to Northern Arizona (25–14, 25–19, 28–26). The Eagles found their rhythm as the match went on, highlighted by a thrilling third set that saw them erase an early deficit and push the Lumberjacks deep into extra points before narrowly falling 28–26.
Offensively, EWU was led by a strong duo at the net, with
Kalista Lukovich finishing with 11 kills and
Quincey McCoy adding 10. On the defensive end,
Elle Bruegman stood out with a match-high 17 digs, anchoring the Eagles' backcourt with relentless effort. At the net, Lukovich also contributed three blocks, while
Judith Bolomboy added two, helping Eastern contest hitters and shift momentum in key stretches.
Although Northern Arizona held the edge in hitting percentage and service aces, Eastern Washington's ability to respond late in the match—especially in the third set—showcased the team's resilience and competitive fire. The Eagles' late surge and individual standout performances proved they have the pieces to build on as they continue conference play.
