Eagles Start Strong but Fall to Northern Colorado at Home

CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington opened the match with confidence, delivering an impressive first-set performance to earn a 25–18 win. The Eagles fed off the home crowd energy and executed cleanly on both sides of the ball, using aggressive swings and timely blocking to disrupt Northern Colorado's rhythm early. Their serve pressure also kept the Bears out of system as EWU set the tone with poise and momentum.

However, Northern Colorado regrouped and steadily flipped the match in the second set, matching Eastern's energy and capitalizing on attacking errors to take a 25–18 win of their own. From there, the Bears began to control the pace, using consistent ball control and a balanced offense to win the third set 25–16. Eastern Washington continued to battle at the net and showed flashes of the intensity they opened with, but Northern Colorado's efficiency began to wear on the Eagles' defense.

In the fourth set, the Bears maintained their momentum, pulling away for a 25–14 decision to close out the match 3–1. Despite the result, Eastern Washington showed strong individual efforts, highlighted by Alyssa Radke, who led the team in kills with an efficient attacking performance. Judith Bolomboy anchored the front line with a standout blocking effort, helping EWU out-block Northern Colorado on the night. The Eagles also delivered six service aces, showing their ability to apply pressure from the service line.

While the momentum slipped after a dominant first set, Eastern Washington displayed stretches of high-level play and will look to build consistency as they move deeper into conference action.
