CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern came up short in a 3–1 loss to Portland State on Thursday night at Viking Pavilion. The Eagles dropped the opening set 25–13 before responding with an impressive 25–21 win in the second to even the match at one apiece. However, the Vikings' offensive consistency proved too strong down the stretch, taking the final two sets 25–16 and 25–20.
The Eagles showed grit throughout the match, highlighted by strong performances at the net.
Alyssa Radke and
Kalista Lukovich each tallied 10 kills, with Radke hitting an efficient .348.
Quincey McCoy added six kills and a team-high six blocks, helping EWU out-block Portland State 8–4. Setter
Anna Bolich guided the offense with 20 assists, while
Elle Bruegman anchored the defense with 15 digs.
Despite the loss, Eastern Washington showed flashes of its potential, especially in the second set where the team executed with poise and energy to control the pace. The Eagles hit .178 as a team while holding their own defensively, but Portland State's balanced attack and edge in digs (71–53) made the difference.
