BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Eastern Washington men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up competition at the Big Sky Championships in Bozeman, Mont., with the men placing seventh and the women finishing eighth.
"We were a little bit conservative today and it cost us, and the lead pack got too far ahead to close," said Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Erin Tucker. "We learned a lot about who we are, and we can fix this. We are fit and we have ability — with a little more belief, we'll be better. We have two weeks before regionals, and we will be better! Go Eags!"
The men's squad totaled 204 points, led by
Conner Wirth, who crossed the line in 37th place with a time of 25:47.60.
Grady Fournier followed closely in 38th (25:53.20), with
Owen Higgins (45th),
Charlie Ledwith (54th), and
Lucas Spurling (55th) rounding out Eastern's scoring five.
On the women's side, the Eagles tallied 224 points.
