Eastern wraps up its three-game road swing on Wednesday, Dec. 3, with a 6 p.m. (PST) matchup at Denver—the first of two games in the Big Sky–Summit League Challenge. The Eagles then return to Cheney to host Kansas City on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. Eastern enters the week at 1–6 overall.

In Big Sky play, Isaiah Moses ranks third in scoring, eighth in steals, and tenth in assists. Elijah Thomas is tied for tenth in blocked shots, while Emmett Marquardt sits tied for 14th.

Last week, the
Eagles fell 79–71 in overtime at North Texas after the Mean Green closed regulation on a late surge to force extra time. Eastern defended well early, keeping the game within one possession at halftime with a 33–30 lead.

The Eagles held a slight advantage for much of the second half, powered by JoJo Anderson's energy and sharp shooting from Alton Hamilton IV, before entering overtime tied 65–65. In the extra period, North Texas capitalized on Eastern's scoring drought, turnovers, and foul trouble to pull away.

Hamilton led Eastern with 16 points, Moses added 14 points and four assists, and Kiree Huie posted 10 points and seven rebounds. The Eagles' bench also delivered 31 points in a hard-fought road effort.

Women's Basketball - vs. Denver (Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. Pacific Time), at South Dakota (Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. Pacific Time)- Get Tickets

Eastern Washington is back at home after a holiday tournament this past weekend to begin competition in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge. EWU plays two games in the challenge this week, starting with a home matchup against Denver on Wednesday. The Eagles then travel to Vermillion, S.D. to play South Dakota on Saturday. Both games are streamed live on ESPN+.

During this past weekend, Eastern went 1-1 at the Portland Invitational, defeating Nevada on Friday before falling to the host-school Portland on Sunday. The Eagles had a back-and-forth battle against the Wolf Pack to start the tournament. After trailing at halftime, EWU used a 17-5 run in the third quarter to take control. The game was not out of reach for Nevada as they made a late run that brought the Eastern lead down to one with a minute remaining. The Eagles made their free throws down the stretch to hold off the rally and
earn a 58-57 win. Ella Gallatin and Kourtney Grossman carried the effort for Eastern, each scoring 15 points. Grossman pulled down eight rebounds, while Gallatin had six in support.

To close out the tournament, Eastern dropped a
73-58 game against Portland on its home court. The Pilots jumped on the Eagles in the first quarter to lead by double-digits. Portland was able to maintain its lead throughout the rest of the game despite several scoring runs from EWU. Gallatin led all scorers with 19 points, adding six rebounds for the game.

The Eagles have consistently been working on their rebounding effort this season, averaging 39.6 total per game. The stat ranks third in the Big Sky, with 27.3 defensive rebounds per game (second) and 12.3 offensive rebounds (fourth). Eastern has a plus-0.3 rebounding margin this season.

Grossman is repeating her rebounding effort from her freshman season, leading the team and ranking second in the conference with 8.6 per game. She is also continuing her duel-threat ability, contributing 13.6 points per game.

Gallatin is the do-everything player for EWU, leading the team in assists (24) and steals (17), while ranking third in points (11.1) and rebounds (5.6). Elyn Bowers is the Eagles' top scorer, averaging 15.1 points per game, good for sixth in the Big Sky. She has scored in double-digits in six-of-seven games this season and has a 45.7 shooting percentage, also sixth in the conference.
