Eastern Washington looks to bounce back from a 109–81 road loss at No. 10 BYU as the Eagles open Big Sky Conference play at Idaho on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m.
Isaiah Moses ranks third in the Big Sky in scoring at 17.6 points per game and sits second in free-throw percentage at 86 percent. Kiree Huie is third in the league in blocked shots, averaging 1.08 per game, while Alton Hamilton IV and Straton Rogers are tied for eighth in offensive rebounding.
Eastern battled BYU through a competitive first half before a strong second-half surge by the Cougars pulled the game out of reach. Huie led the Eagles with 17 points, while Jojo Anderson, Hamilton IV, and Moses also scored in double figures. Moses added seven rebounds and Hamilton IV recorded six assists. The Eagles shot 46 percent from the field and held a 24–16 advantage in bench points, but BYU finished at 54 percent shooting.
The Eagles matched BYU's tempo early and trailed just 53–48 at halftime despite turnover and foul trouble. BYU took control after the break with defensive pressure, offensive rebounding, and transition scoring, building a double-digit lead and closing strong as Eastern continued to compete to the final buzzer.
