BYU takes down EWU in Moscow

2/1/2025 2:07:00 PM

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Eagles traveled to Moscow for their first neutral site match of the season to take on the Cougars. BYU would pull out the win however 7-0, as the Eagles drop to 1-3 on the season. The Cougars moved to 3-3 on the season.

EWU continued their longest road stretch of the season with their third straight match away from home. The two teams faced off in their second all-time meeting. The Cougars defeated the Eagles in Provo 9-0 in 1985.

In the doubles No. 1 position, the Eagles would see Isabella Foshee/Kenzington Mann against Kendall Kovick/Elizabeth Tullis from the Cougars. Eastern's pairing would take the 4-2 lead, but would be unable to clinch the win due to the Cougars winning the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles dual-matches.

Leandra Nizetic/Kelly Arends would represent the Eagles in the No.2 doubles slot for the third time this season. The junior Anait Arutiunian would pair up with her third different doubles partner this season, this time with freshman Zoe Pradel. Pradel made her dual-match doubles season debut.

In the singles, it would be tough for the Eagles to gain their footing. Isabella Foshee would take the No. 1 singles position, but would fall to tough opponent Grace Levelston. The No. 2 singles for the Eagles, Anait Arutiunian would make her second appearance from that position this season.

From the No. 3 position, the junior Leandra Nizetic fell in the first set 6-2 to Chelsea Bluestein. She would however recover and make the second set a gritty one, but would come up just short and drop the set 7-5.

Freshman Zoe Pradel was in the No. 6 singles position for the first time this season. Pradel has now appeared in half of the singles positions this season (No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6).
