CHENEY, Wash. — Finals week is here for Eastern Washington and the Eagles go right back to competition this coming weekend. Track and Field begins its outdoor season on Thursday, with the team competing in two different meets, with one in Eugene and one in Spokane.
Track and Field – at Oregon Preview, Eugene, Ore. (March 21-22, All Day), at Buc Scoring Meet, Spokane, Wash. (March 20-21, All Day)
The Eagles are heading into the outdoor season following strong performances at the Big Sky Indoor Championships, where the men's team placed sixth and the women's team finished seventh. To kick off the outdoor season, the team will be split across two meets: one group will travel to Eugene, Oregon, for the Oregon Preview, while the other will compete at Whitworth's Buc Scoring Meet.
The Oregon Preview will take place from Friday, March 21, to Saturday, March 22, while the Buc Scoring Meet will run from Thursday, March 20, to Friday, March 21.

At the indoor championships, the Eagles earned seven medals: four gold, two silver, and one bronze. Gold medalists included Kris Phennicie (60m), Maddy Shekhawat (60m hurdles), Egypt Simmons (triple jump), and Suzi Woodall (pole vault). Daniel Gaik and Simmons each secured silver medals, while Owen Higgins earned bronze.
As they head into the outdoor season, Eastern Washington looks to improve on last year's performances at the Conference Championships, where the women placed eighth and the men finished ninth.
Women's Tennis – at Sacramento State (Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m. Pacific Time)
Following a split decision weekend at home, Eastern is back on the road this weekend for a single match. EWU travels to play Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif. On Sunday (March 23), with first serve at 1 p.m. Pacific Time.
This past weekend, the Eagles hosted their first two conference opponents of the season, playing against Weber State on Saturday (March 15) and Northern Arizona (March 16).
Against the Wildcats, Eastern delivered a 4-3 win for the team's first conference victory. EWU started strong with two doubles wins at No. 2(

Sara Vasic) and No. 3 (
Zoe Pradel/
Olivia Marais) to secure the point and a 1-0 lead. Moving to singles, the Eagles clinched the win with victories from
Isabella Foshee (6-2, retired), Nizetic (6-1, 6-2) and Pradel (6-3, 6-0). On Sunday, Eastern dropped its second match
against Northern Arizona, 7-0.
After the weekend, EWU's record sits at 1-2 in the Big Sky and 3-8 overall.
In the series history against Sacramento St., EWU is 2-19, dropping the last two matchups. The Hornets won both matches in the 2023-24 season, 6-1. The Eagles defeated Sac. St. in 2022, 5-2 in Cheney.
Foshee and Nizetic lead the team in singles wins this season, with four each. Foshee is 2-1 in Big Sky matches, while Nizetic is 1-2.
In doubles this season, Foshee and Kenzington Mann hold a 2-4 record, with Anait Arutiunian and Nizetic also carrying a pair of wins. Marasis and Pradel have also recorded two doubles wins this season.
