FARMINGTON, Utah — The Big Sky Conference announced on Monday, March 24, that Egypt
Caitlin Simmons was named Big Sky Field Athlete of the Week. This marks Simmons' third recognition this season and her first of the outdoor season after winning the long jump and finishing second in the triple jump.
"The jump queen picked up right where she left off from indoor season," said
Erin Tucker, Director of Track and Field/Cross Country. "Despite the rainy, early Pacific Northwest conditions, she had an impressive season opener. Watch out for more to come!"
Simmons earned her sixth Big Sky Field Athlete of the Week honor after winning the long jump with a leap of 6.00m. In the triple jump, she secured second place with a jump of 12.58m at the Oregon Preview.
Currently, Simmons ranks first in the Big Sky in the triple jump and is 21st in the NCAA. She also leads the Big Sky in the long jump and is tied for 30th in the NCAA.
