CHENEY, Wash. — Soccer opened the season 1-1 and now turns its focus to a road matchup against North Dakota on Friday, Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m. PST in Grand Forks. Meanwhile, EWU Volleyball gears up for its exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. on Reese Court.
Women's Soccer – at North Dakota (Friday, Aug. 22 at 10:30 AM PST)
The Eagles opened their 2025 season with a 1-1 record, bouncing back from a narrow 1-0 loss to Seattle University on Thursday with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Southern Utah on Sunday.
This week, Eastern hits the road to face North Dakota on Friday, Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m. PST. The Eagles have dominated the all-time series, holding a 6-1 record against the Fighting Hawks, including a 1-0 win in their last meeting in 2022. Eastern is currently riding a five-game winning streak in the matchup.
Against Southern Utah, second-half goals from Chloe Pattison and Delani Walker sealed the victory, with goalkeeper Kamryn Willoughby making nine crucial saves to preserve the lead. In the opener against Seattle, Eastern's defense held strong for much of the match, but a second-half set piece broke the deadlock. Despite the loss, the Eagles saw promising performances from returners and newcomers alike, setting a solid foundation for the season ahead.
Football - Scrimmage #2 (Friday, Aug. 22 at 3:00 PM) - Free Admission
Eastern Washington hosts its final scrimmage on Friday to close out fall camp and preparation for the 2025 season. The scrimmage marks the 21st scrimmage of fall camp. This past Thursday, EWU hosted the Red Turf Takeover at the ONE Spokane Stadium, with 1300-plus fans in attendance to see the Eagle offense and defense face off.
Jared Taylor was sharp, passing for 148 yards and rushing for 21. The defense had the night in the end, limiting the offense to a pair of field goals and no touchdowns.
The 2025 season is less than two weeks away, as Eastern prepares to travel to San Antonio, Texas to take on No. 5 Incarnate Word on Saturday (Aug. 30). The season opener kickoff at 4 p.m. Pacific Time and 6 p.m. Central.
Women's Volleyball – vs Central Washington (Exhibition) (Saturday, Aug. 23 at 1:00 PM) - Free Admission
The Eagles are looking to sharpen their lineup as they prepare for an exhibition matchup against Central Washington on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. on Reese Court.
Eastern welcomes eight newcomers to the roster this season while returning eight key players. Leading the returners are reigning Freshman of the Year Quincy Moran and Second Team All-Big Sky selection Kalista Lukovich. Offensive powerhouse Alyssa Radke also returns, along with setter Anna Bolich, defensive specialist Elle Bruegman, right sides Erin McInnes and Sophia Lindemann, and middle blocker Bria Carlisle.
Among the newcomers to watch are defensive specialists Camryn Hagel and Olivia Burns, setter Jalyn Davenport, and middle blockers Quincey McCoy, Sidney Grey, Judith Bolomboy, and Mia Polloi. The team also adds one transfer, outside hitter Cassandra Moeller, to round out the fresh talent.
