Eagles sweep Pirates for third-straight win

Eastern Washington dominated Whitworth in Spokane

2/13/2026 9:33:00 PM

SPOKANE, Wash. — Friday night was a sweep for Eastern Washington women's tennis as they defeated Whitworth, 7-0. EWU is now 4-3 on the season, while Whitworth drops to 0-2

The Eagles cruised to their third-straight win after sweeping all six singles and three doubles matches.

"I was really happy with the team. They came out and showed a really good belief in the way that they are playing," head coach Dustin Hinson said. "There were some tough doubles and we had to kind of dig in and find a way, especially at number two. I was really happy with everyone in singles and their court demeanor. There was good, positive energy, despite some tough moments and matches."

Eastern had wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the point, with No. 2 winning in tiebreaker for the third victory.

Zoe Pradel did not drop a game against Jordan Turner-Esposito at No. 3 singles, winning 6-0 in both sets.

At No. 1, Anait Arutiunian was nearly perfect in her match against Paige Oliver, dropping only one game in the two-set match.

Up 3-0, Leandra Nizetic clinched the match at No. 2 after defeating Faith Kert 6-4, 6-4. The Eagles completed the sweep with wins at No. 4, 5, and 6 singles.

"We certainly were dominant in a lot of matches and I think that's building some good momentum and belief in the team," Hinson added. "The three wins in a row is definitely helping with our confidence and we look forward to another good one on Sunday at home against Utah State."
