CHENEY, Wash. — The winning ways continue for Eastern Washington women's tennis as the team earned its fifth consecutive victory on Saturday morning. Eastern defeated Seattle U, 7-0, sweeping singles and earning the doubles point. EWU is now 7-3 on the season, while Seattle falls to 0-5.

"I'm really excited for the team. We dug in and played with confidence and belief. We showed up from start-to-finish, even though there were tight moments where we got behind in some matches," head coach Dustin Hinson said. "I think the belief really showed through because we battled back and came out on top in all of those matches. It's facing those pressure situations and the confidence is starting to show."

Seattle U was playing down a player and coincided the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

EWU took advantage with a win at the No. 2 doubles from Leandra Nizetic and Maria Lopez to secure the point.

Leading 2-0, Nizetic cruised to her eighth-straight singles win, playing at No. 1 and defeating Lamija Avdic 6-4 in both sets.

Olivia Marias clinched the match for the Eagles at No. 2 singles, defeating Larissa Teramura 6-2, 7-5.

Veronika Gayevyk earned a win at No. 3, followed by Zoe Pradel winning in two sets at No. 2 to pad the lead. Aneliss Zamfirescu dominated her match at No. 5, winning both sets 6-0 over Maija Tamura.

Eastern did not drop a set in five singles matches against the Redhawks.

"The challenge for today was to carry ourselves with a championship demeanor and I think we did that top-to-bottom; it was key in those tough moments," Hinson added. "We stayed in the moment and didn't get ahead of ourselves. That helped us get the sweep which really feels good. I'm proud of this team and for how hard they fight and work, along with the energy they bring every match. We're going to continue working hard and looking forward to a tough matchup against Boise State next weekend.
