Eagles close Redhawk Invite with strong round

Hogan Park led Eastern with a top-10 finish

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Eastern Washington men's golf was on the west side to start the week at the Redhawk Invitational, hosted by Seattle U. EWU placed 11th in the tournament after shooting 891. The Eagles competed at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place on Monday and Tuesday. In the final round, the Eagles combined to shoot +3.

Junior Hogan Park led the way and tied for 6th on the individual leaderboard, shooting -4 (212) for the Tournament. Park scored his best round of the season in the opening 18, finishing with a score of 68. This scoring continued into the second and third rounds, where he had scores of 74 and 70 to complete the tournament. 

"Hogan continues to be strong for us this spring," head coach Russell Grove said. "I'm really happy to see how far he's come since the first round of our first event in the fall. His trajectory will only keep going up sharply."

Freshman Cal Anderson posted another solid tournament, shooting +5 (221). Anderson had a final round of 73 and two rounds of 74. 

Another freshman, Kevin Wang, who competed as an individual, scored a hole-in-one on the third hole of his third round. 

Abilene Christian finished at 851 (-13) to claim the team title. Utah Tech's David Liechty shot a -16 (200) to take home the solo title.

Eastern has a week off before heading to Lexington, Kentucky, to play in the Bluegrass College Invitational. The Bluegrass Invitational takes place at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. The tournament is set to take place on April 13th (Monday) through April 14th (Tuesday).
