EUGENE, Ore. – Cort Gebbers earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in the discus at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon in Eugene, Ore.

Competing against the nation's best, Gebbers finished eighth in his flight and 19th overall to cap off a breakthrough sophomore campaign.

"What a great year for Cort," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Erin Tucker. "We saw his story unfold at the First Round meet, and for him to come to NCAAs and record two throws beyond the personal best he set there is huge."

Gebbers wasted no time making his presence felt, launching a personal-record throw of 57.52 meters (188-8) on his opening attempt to move into fifth place after the first round. He followed with another impressive mark over 57 meters, finishing just four inches shy of his new personal best.

"He wanted more, and that's a great thing," Tucker added. "He'll get more next year. This will motivate him to work even harder this summer. It caps our season on a high note, and I truly believe we'll have even more people here next year and score some points."

Gebbers closes the 2026 season as an Honorable Mention All-American after rewriting his personal-best mark twice during postseason competition. His performance in Eugene marks another milestone in a season that saw him qualify for the NCAA Championships after entering the NCAA West First Round ranked 47th before advancing to nationals with an 11th-place finish.
