Women's Tennis Continues Big Sky Schedule, Hosts Idaho State

Cheney, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team continues its dual season this week, hosting Big Sky Conference opponent Idaho State, on Friday, Mar. 4, starting at 3 p.m. PST.

This past week, Eastern dropped a down to the wire, conference match against visiting Weber State, 3-4, on Friday, Feb. 26, and followed it with a non-conference victory over Whitworth (Saturday, Feb. 27). EWU moved to a 9-4 record on the season and 3-1 in league play, good for the most overall wins in the conference.

Against Whitworth, the Eagles were at the top of their game, sweeping the Pirates 7-0. Eastern won every match in straight sets, only dropping six total games, and had two players shut out their respective opponents. Freshman Faye Worrall went undefeated in the week, going 2-0 in both doubles and singles. She leads the team with an 8-4 dual record. Senior Moira Hedberg and junior Erin Blessing continue to excel in doubles play; the tandem owns a 10-2 record in duals.

Idaho State (2-5) will be opening its Big Sky Conference play against Eastern. The Bengals most recently suffered a 3-4 loss to South Dakota on Saturday, Feb. 20.
