Women’s Tennis To Play Portland State On Its Senior Day

Cheney, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team hosts Big Sky Conference opponent Portland State for its Senior Day, on Sunday, April 10, at 10 a.m. PST.

This will be the final home match in the career of senior Moira Hedberg. On the season she has a dual record of 6-16 in both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, and a doubles record of 12-8. In her four years of EWU tennis, she has accumulated 39 singles wins and 38 doubles wins. She has been selected to the All-Big Sky First Team twice in her career, along with two Big Sky player of the week awards.

Eastern owns a 10-9 overall record and 4-4 record in conference heading into Sunday's match. The Eagles currently sit in a tie for fifth place with Montana State in the Big Sky standings. With the conference tournament inching closer, the race for the six spots is heating up. League-leading Northern Arizona has already clinched its spot with an 8-1 record, while the other five spots are still up for grabs.

Portland State (5-8, 4-5 BSC) is in the middle of the tournament race, and could jump EWU with a win in Sunday's match. The Vikings lost 1-6 to Idaho in their last match on Sunday, April 3. In the No. 1 spot for PSU is senior Dane Vorster with a 3-10 record in duals.
