The Eastern Washington University track and field team had successful marks throughout the day at the 46th Annual Pelluer Invitational on Saturday (April 14) with freshman
Alexis Rolan and sophomore
Keshun McGee leading the way by taking first in all their respective events.
Â
Senior
Erin Clark also made history at Roos Field by taking first in the pole vault for the third-straight time at the Pelluer Invitational, marking the first time the achievement has been done by a student-athlete on the women's side.
Â
"We had some amazing performances today and it was good to see some different universities competing at the Pelluer," women's head coach
Marcia Mecklenburg said. "It was a good day. We are making progress. That is what we need at this time of the year, continued improvement and movement up on those Big Sky lists."
"Many thanks to all the teams and people who attended today's meet," men's head coach
Stan Kerr said. "I feel we are getting better every week and today's performances under very challenging circumstances is a big point of pride for our team."
Â
In team scoring, EWU swept on both the men and women's sides against Portland State and Gonzaga University.

More comments from men's head coach Stan Kerr . . .
On marks: "Particularly remarkable marks today were Keshun's horizontal jumps and Parker's hurdle race. Needless to say, those two and the others headed to competition next week in California will continue to show up among the elite athletes in the Big Sky Conference."
Â
More comments from women's head coach Marcia Mecklenburg . . .
On top marks: "Top marks would go to
Kari Hamilton in the 1500,
Tierra White in the high jump,
Alexis Rolan in the long jump and
Paris Flenoy in the shot put. All of those performances move those athletes way up on the Big Sky lists."
Â
On other events: "Our depth events also went well. I liked the one-two-three finish in the pole vault. In the hammer we went two-three-four.
Alexis Rolan and
Rebecca Tarbert continue to dominate the 100."
