CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team looks forward to taking on Idaho this week (Apr. 4) at 2 p.m. Pacific time and hosting Portland State in Cheney this weekend (Apr. 8), with first serve set for 11 a.m. The Eagles are 3-2 in Big Sky Conference play and 6-9 overall.
Eastern sits in sixth place in the Big Sky standings and are in stride to make it to the conference championship on April 27-29. The top six teams in the conference will compete championships and Northern Arizona is the lone team to have clinched a spot so far.
The Eagles are coming off a week in California where they competed against Cal Poly (2-5), Fresno State (3-4) and Sacramento State (3-4), dropping all in closely contested battles.
The match against Idaho takes place at Lewis-Clark State College. The Vandals sit at a 4-1 mark in conference, 7-6 overall and are currently ranked second in conference standings. They are coming off a winning week having defeated Montana State (Mar. 24) 6-1 and Boise State (Mar. 25) 4-1.
Eastern will host Portland State in the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse on Sunday morning. The match is complimentary to the public. Portland State is 0-8 in conference, 0-12 overall. Their most recent match was against Southern Utah last week where they fell 1-6 (Mar. 25).
